The loader refuses to start and reports a version mismatch, or it announces that it is outdated and tells you to download the latest loader. Sometimes it says it is downloading the latest version and then appears to sit there. The maddening part is that this often happens right after a clean download from the official guide, so the obvious fix has already been tried. This page separates the two situations that look identical on screen: a loader that is busy replacing itself, and a build that is genuinely behind a game patch.
Why this happens
The documentation does not describe the loader's internal version check, so this page sticks to what is observable. A message about downloading the latest version is the loader updating itself, and the standard support answer is to let it finish rather than closing it and starting again. A mismatch that survives a clean redownload is a different situation. The official guidance is to stop using a product after a game or anti-cheat update and to wait for an official status update before restarting it, and the status board is where that update is published.
How to fix it
- If the loader says it is downloading the latest version, leave it open and let it finish before you try anything else.
- If it still reports a mismatch, download a fresh copy of the loader from its own official guide on the guides page. Only download loaders linked from an official guide.
- Confirm the loader you opened is the one for the product you bought. Your key only works in its matching product loader.
- Check the status board for your product before trying again. If it shows an update in progress, stop and wait for the official status update instead of reinstalling repeatedly.
- Waiting does not cost you subscription time. Time is compensated back onto your key once the cheat has been updated after a game update.
- If a Windows update came just before the problem, check the supported Windows version in the product description. Where an update caused it, you can roll back through Windows Recovery, but back up your files first.
- If the loader will not open at all, install the current Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables, restart Windows, then download a fresh loader copy from its guide.
- If the mismatch survives all of that, if the update sits for a long time, or if the status board and the loader disagree with each other, contact support. Cases like these are passed to a developer to confirm.
Which products this applies to
The message comes from the loader itself. Reports of an outdated or mismatched build name Hydra for Apex Legends, Frost for BO6, BO7 and Warzone, Frost Pro for R6 and Inferno for R6. Frost for Modern Warfare 4 comes up in the same reports for a loader that will not open, which is step 7 above. If your product is not named here, ask support for specifics rather than assuming the same cause. Status is tracked per product, so read the entry for your own product on the status board rather than assuming it matches another one.
Still stuck? Contact support with your product name, the game, the exact message on screen and the steps you have already tried, and a human will pick it up.
