The loader will not open, or it closes the moment I run it

If the loader window flashes and vanishes, or nothing appears at all, the documented causes are missing Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables and a lack of administrator rights.

You double-click the loader and nothing happens at all. Or a window appears for a fraction of a second and closes on its own before you can read a single word of it. This is not the same problem as a loader that opens and then rejects your key. Here you never get as far as a key or an inject.

Why this happens

The setup FAQ documents this case and gives one cause for it: missing Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables. Two related cases sit next to it in the same FAQ. An access-violation error is documented separately, and its fix is running the loader as administrator. A missing DLL is documented separately again. Past those, the documentation does not explain what the loader is doing in the moment it closes, so we will not guess. Work through the fixes below, and if none of them change anything, only the symptom is known and support needs to look at your setup.

How to fix it

  1. Install the current Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables, then restart Windows and download a fresh loader copy from its official guide. The NFA Accounts guide spells out the same fix for an account loader that will not open: download the all-in-one Visual C++ redistributable runtime package, extract the files, run Install All as administrator, restart your PC and try again.
  2. Only ever use a loader linked from an official guide on the guides page.
  3. Extract the download before you run it, rather than running the loader from inside the zip. Support has handled cases where Windows would not extract a loader zip properly, so if the extraction itself is what fails, ask support for specifics.
  4. Right click the loader and choose Run as administrator. The FAQ gives this as the fix for an access-violation error, and it is one of the things support has already had people try on a loader that will not open.
  5. Put the extracted loader folder on your C drive and run it from there. Support has asked people to move a loader out of Downloads and onto the C drive before going further.
  6. If the message names a missing DLL, install the DirectX End-User Runtime and restart your computer.
  7. If this started right after a Windows update, check the supported Windows version in the product description. You can use Windows Recovery to roll back a recent update, but back up your files first.

One thing not to do: if your security software has flagged the file, do not disable system security features as a workaround. Send support the detection name and a screenshot instead.

Which products this applies to

These are the documented setup steps for a loader that will not open, so they apply to whichever loader you are running, whether that is Frost, Inferno, Hydra, Armani, Arcane or Krush. Support has worked this exact symptom on Hydra for Apex, where the loader closed instantly even after the Visual C++ redistributables, a restart, an administrator run and a run from the C drive had all been tried. The NFA account loaders have their own written version of the Visual C++ fix in the NFA Accounts guide.

If the loader still will not open after all of that, open live support. Bring the product name, the game, your Windows version and build, and either a screenshot or the exact wording of anything that flashes up.
