You got into your NFA account, played for a while, and then it signed you out. Now it will not let you back in without an email address and a password you were never given, sometimes for an account name you do not recognise. Some people see a message saying the credentials have been changed, and some see a warning that the account is in use on another computer. It looks like the account you paid for has been taken off you. The way back into an NFA account is your key rather than a password, so start there.
Why this happens
An NFA account is a real Steam account that you get into through our Account Loader, not with an email and password. There is no separate password anywhere in your order, so a Steam password prompt cannot be answered with anything we sent you. NFA accounts are also temporary. Every one of them is reclaimed, so an account that stops working for good may simply have reached the end of its time. Where the prompt names an account you do not recognise, support treats that as the previous account still saved in Steam. If the key itself stops working, that needs somebody to look at the account, so ask support for specifics on your order rather than guessing.
How to fix it
- Stop hunting for an email and password. There is no separate username and password for an NFA account; the licence key is what logs you in.
- There is nothing from us to type into the Steam password box. Run the key back through the NFA Account Loader instead, which is the fix support gives when Steam is asking for a password.
- Download the Account Loader from the NFA accounts guide, open it, paste the key from your order, and press Login. If the login works you are put straight into the account, already signed in.
- If the loader will not open, download the all in one Visual C++ redistributable package, extract it, run Install All as administrator, restart your PC and try again.
- If yours is a 0 hour account and it turns out to be invalid, contact support inside the 6 hour warranty window and we will replace it. Past that window we cannot, so it is worth testing an account as soon as you unlock it.
- If the key is rejected, reports that no account is available, or the account says it is in use elsewhere, send support your order number and the key. Those need somebody to check the account itself.
- Move anything you want to keep across to your main account before you stop playing. NFA accounts get taken back, and gear left on one goes with it.
Which products this applies to
Every NFA account we sell works this way. That covers the free 0 hour account included with 7 day and 30 day Hydra keys for Arc Raiders and Hydra keys for Rust, and the standalone Arc NFA Accounts and Rust NFA Account, which are sold in higher hour tiers as well as 0 hour ones. The 6 hour warranty applies to 0 hour accounts only, which is exactly what the free one is. Cheat keys are separate: unlocking the free account does not use up your Hydra key.
If the key still will not log you in after the loader steps above, talk to support and a human will pick it up.
