Name ESP
Also called: player name, name tag
Name ESP is an ESP feature that draws each enemy's in-game player name above their character on your screen. It draws through walls, so you can read who is on the other side of a building before you commit to a fight. On its own a name tag tells you very little. Paired with a box or a skeleton, it turns a shape on your screen into a specific person. That matters most in squad and lobby based games. You can tell a player you have already fought from a stranger, and you can count how many of one squad are still alive. Name ESP only draws text, so it never touches your aim or your recoil.
Name ESP is a text feature, not an aim feature. It reads the player name the game already holds and prints it at that player's position. It works as well through a wall as it does in the open, because it is drawn on your side of the screen.
What it actually adds
A box tells you a body is there. A name tells you which body it is. That single difference is worth more in some games than others. If you traded shots with someone and backed off, the name tells you when that same player pushes you again. If you are tracking a squad, names let you count who is left instead of guessing.
Reading it without drowning in text
Names are the fastest way to clutter a screen. Keep them small, keep them one colour, and cap the range they draw at. A draw distance limit is usually worth setting lower for names than for box ESP, since a name you cannot act on is just noise. A common setup is names up close, distance ESP further out, and nothing at all past that.
Detection and habits
Name ESP does not move your mouse, so there is no aim behaviour for a killcam to show. Arctic's own guidance is that ESP only, with no aim assistance at all, is the lowest risk setup there is. The bigger risk with names is you. Do not call out a name your character has no way of knowing. Do not pre aim a doorway just because a tag is sitting behind it. Play as if the information reached you normally, so you give a spectator less to report.
Arc Raiders runs Easy Anti-Cheat. If you want to know whether a particular Arctic build carries name ESP, ask support before you buy. Check the live board at /status for the current state of that build. If you record or stream, read stream proof first, because one name tag left in a clip gives you away just as fast as a full skeleton does.
