What you actually see through it

The overlay is where every visual feature lands. ESP boxes, name tags and the radar are drawn there, not by the game engine. It is also the control panel. Sliders, toggles and colour pickers sit in the same layer, so a menu you can read at a glance matters as much as the features inside it.

External and internal overlays

An external cheat normally draws into its own transparent window above the game. An internal cheat can hook the renderer and draw inside the frame itself. Both look much the same to you. The practical difference is windowing. External overlays usually need borderless or windowed mode, because exclusive fullscreen can cover them. If your overlay vanishes in fullscreen, change display mode before you assume something is broken.

Performance and clutter

Every element you switch on has to be drawn again each frame. Long draw distances and per enemy text add the most visual noise. Fewer elements usually run faster, and they are easier to read in a fight. Save a setup you like as a config, so you can load it next session instead of rebuilding it.

Where the overlay sits in your risk

The overlay is a display, not an input. It does not move your crosshair, so it does not produce the sharp snaps other players see in a killcam. Arctic's own guidance is that ESP only, with no aim assistance at all, is the lowest risk setup there is. A spoofer is a different tool from an overlay. It changes the hardware identifiers your machine reports, and it does not unban an old account or remove a ban record. TRACE 2.0 covers Easy Anti-Cheat and BattlEye titles, for example. If you record or stream, ask support how the overlay you own behaves under screen capture, rather than trusting claims you read elsewhere.
